Turning a corner with breastfeeding
I'm finally turning a corner with this breastfeeding (BF) thing. It is now week nine of my child's life and I'm finally able to BF without pain. This sucks because I only planned on BF for three months (12wks). So the long and short of it is....... After suffering for 2.5 months, enduring cracked, sore, and what looked like burnt nipples, a blocked milk duct, major latching on issues and the guilt/shame of feeling like you are unable to feed your own baby, I have only two weeks to BF my baby without pain before the weaning begins. Go figure......Such is life.

Preteen Plastic Surgery
A couple days ago I was in a department store trying on clothes in the dressing room when I over heard a couple young girls (they couldn't be more than 13 years old) talking about getting a nose job. One of them said, "I want a nose job." And the other responds by saying, "Why? Your nose is fine. I'm the one that needs a nose job." Then the first girl proceeds to saying, "So and so got one and it really looks good."
I was like, what the hell! Is this what our world is coming to? Whatever happened to conversations like, "Your hair is so pretty?" or "I like your top. It's cute." Instead middle schoolers are talking about plastic surgery as if it's no big deal. Is this what's becoming of future generations? Where what's important is how we look? What ever happened to teaching children substance? Has the media totally taken control over our teenagers with its definition of beauty through commercials, music videos, and reality tv?
As parents it is so important to instill self-confidence within our children. A healthy dose of confidence will take them farther in life than a new nose. After all, looks tend to fade throughout the years.

Breastfeeding.....WTF!
Can someone please tell me why breastfeeding (BF) has to be so hard? One would think that this would come naturally to all women since we've been having babies for centuries, right? Wrong! The truth is it hurts like hell! And the thing is, no one talks about it until you are in the throws of it all. Then someone would say, "It should stop hurting in about a week". And you just want to say, "WTF, tell that to my nipples that look like they have been burned." I'm in my second month of BF and it has been hell! I have seen nurses in the hospital, my midwife, a lactation consultant, and a doctor that specializes in breastfeeding and I'm still struggling to BF. My husband jokes with me saying that the amount of money we've spent on learning how to BF could have bought months of formula...He is so right. :)
Oh, by the way, did I mention the pain you feel when your little bundle of joy is latched on incorrectly?...Is it me?

Why are all the good blog names taken?
For the last few months I've been saying there needs to be a page where people can vent their frustrations or simply share things they've seen that makes them say, "What the F***!" So, I got tired of saying it and decided to create it with the help of a friend. Problem is, it took forever to come up with a name, because all the good names seem to be taken, not to mention the time it took to figure out where to go to create the blog, figuring out how to use the site, answering all these questions for your profile, choosing a layout, choosing colors, choosing text, choosing font, etc...Is it me?
